Two Valley supervisors responded to last week's story about the township's conditional approval of Coatesville's riverwalk plans.
The president of Valley's board, Patrice Proctor, and another member, Edward Hammond, said the township likes the idea of a park along the Brandywine Creek, which would span between Coatesville and Valley, but they wish the city had presented its plans to township officials earlier in development process.
Proctor believes that way the neighboring municipalities could have ironed out the problems.

"I think the trail is a good idea for everybody. You just got to be able to work things out," Proctor said in Saturday's article. "It seems like a lot of time (Coatesville waits) until the last minute for things, when grants are running out. ... And some people have not done all the homework they need to do."Damalier Molina, who is in charge of the project on Coatesville's end, is expected to present an updated plan to the Valley supervisors at their meeting on July 15.
Hammond said, "There is a communication gap (in Coatesville) ... Much of that lies within their own administrative offices and their (City Council)."

I wonder if Pulver company realizes that they are about to build a BIG hotel and restaurant in Caln at rt. 30 and caln rd. (The old Wawa just closed today.) It will extend all the way east to the car wash. This might mess up his plans for rt. 82. will we need 2 big hotels so close together? time will tell.
As far as Valley and Coatesville, they were never on the same page about a lot of things over the years. This "misunderstanding" about the riverwalk doesn't suprise me.
Ok I saw that the wawa closed (thank god it was a dump) Are you sure that is what is going in on that spot. Does this area really need a big hotel. What is the attraction? I kind of doubt the riverwalk will ever amount to anything. I moved to Coatesville over 5 years ago and right after I moved in I got a glossy flyer telling all about this wonderful riverwalk. Fastforward 5 years and still nothing .
I was very nieve too. I really thought it was going to happen and the skeptics were just hating.

Is that spot at 30 & Caln rd really big enough for a large hotel?
I don't think so, but more evidence of Coatesville being slow on everything. West Chester can get buildings up faster than it takes Coatesville to think them up.
There are Stop signs in high places for Coatesville...and a few in not so high places too.
It is not going to be a big hotel , about a 100 rooms. Rumor is a Fairfield Inn, which is a Marriot hotel, interesting that is what Pulver wanted to put on 82 also. Verizon behind the old Wawa might relocate also. At least Caln is on the ball.
Coatesville’s multi-million dollar per annum drug business would virtually end if it were to become a real destination city like West Chester. In my opinion that and not any “property rights” issue is the real reason behind the drag on the redevelopment of Coatesville. And there may very well be people in high places in Chester County who do not want the revenue stream from drug sales to stop.
Go to caln township website and check the meeting minutes, you can follow the progress of their hotel plans. They will probably jump ahead of Coatesville on this one. yes it will extend from the redlight to the car wash and back to the phone co. property. plenty of room and parking.
I've heard that other food establishments in Caln are sloppy also, where are their building inspectors??
where do people from West Chester and Downingtown buy their drugs from, or is only drug problem in Coatesville?????????
You can buy drugs retail anywhere including a suburban tract home when mommy and daddy are at work.
Coatesville is close to the turnpike via Honeybrook Morgantown or Downingtown exit. Lots of farmland for stash areas near Honeybrook. There is easy on and off the rt. 30 by pass.
The same things that make Coatesville a good place locate a legitimate business that needs easy access to transit make Coatesville a good location for a drug distribution center.
12:41, which meeting minutes? Planning or Commissioners? What month is it in. I've been trying to peruse through and haven't seen anything yet.
Most of the info is on Caln commissioners meeting minutes, start at January and go forward. may be a few things mentioned on the planning minutes also. Will take you a few minutes but it is interesting. You will read a lot of things that never make it to the newspaper. (wonder why?)
If they post them, you can also check Coatesville's meeting minutes, for the folks that were not able to attend the meetings. (Not for news about caln but about C-ville)
Thanks. I see it now (in Commissioner's minutes). It's "code-named" 2131 Lincoln Highway. It is on hold right now but definitely looks like something is in the works. Interesting.
2131 Lincoln Hwy is the wooded land on the East side of the car wash not the WAWA site, maybe Arbys is going to build at the WAWA site.

So I went on Caln's website to check out their minutes for their planning commision. All very percise and upto date. I then went on Coatevilles website. Just as I thought, they have not been update since 2005. Way to keep the public informed. Go Coatesville go!!!
Yes, Coatesville is always behind on their meeting minutes. The RDA is currently 6 months behind and City Council is quite a bit behind also. I believe I heard at the last meeting they were having issues with the website? Having issues for 6 months though?
Yeah I have heard they have been having issues with the website for over a year. Whatever!
They must be reading these post. The meeting minutes have been updated. Watch, they will go untouched for another 6 months now.
