It is said that the first step toward solving a problem is admitting you have a problem.

It doesn't sound like Harry has taken the first step, and he may be incapable of taking it. His denials are exacerbating the problems in Coatesville.

Khudos to DA Carroll. We need to stand proud shoulder to shoulder with him. I'm from a neighboring municipality and plan to just that.

Well the DA's plan sounds good but we have heard this type of talk before. Remember action speaks louder than words. I hope 2009 does mark the year of change in Coatesville because it can't get much lower than it is right now. Time will tell.

Sure would be great for us cops if they got us a real police chief. We did our part with the vote, the DA did his part, God did his part, now council must use this as a means to help the city. Fire Harry, cripple the bloc, and hire a chief with experience. That's a yrue plan for change.

Listen lets cut to the chase. We all know that Walker/Matthews/Block of 4 need to be replaced in order to move forward. Lets start with working with Joe Carroll on how to slowly make things better. I don't care if the person is black/white/green/yellow/democrat/republican. It doesn't matter. What's important is getting people elected and others in place that can start moving forward with the revitalization plan. Lets stop talking about it and start moving forward. Period.

I agree with one of the responders. Maybe we have heard the types of things Mr. Carroll have suggested. Maybe they haven't worked well in the past, but we have to keep trying. Mr. Walker and others on City Council in my opinion don't do anything because they don't know how to do anything.Move along Mr. Walker, You're wasting the people of Coatesville's time and money.

Harry, the last time I was held at gunpoint the attacker didn't ask me if I voted Democrat or Republican. You are obviously too partisan and ineffective so please do us a favor and step down. If you had a creative attitude you would not have publicly slapped the single most important crime fighter in Chester County. You would have opened a private dialogue and only when that channel of communication was exhausted should you have written an open letter. Please Harry, just step down and stop wasting our tax dollars.

DA says crime is increasing. City management says crime is decreasing. Which one is correct. I will have to research and then attend the meetings so that I can tell which one is really trying to help. Coatesville could be a better place to live. It will start with the people that reside here first.

Harry,
Did you just play the race card? What do you mean "change the complexion" of the City Council? It that a way to get the voters to reject Mr. Carroll's political efforts to get rid of the "gang of four"? Maybe instill some fear that the big, bad DA is going to try and put folks with a different "complexion" in charge of things? To those folks, don't worry, Jorgensen and Schenk are the same complexion as Ray and Kareem and even you and the Chief.
It's not the complexion of the Council that you should worry about....it's their intelligence!

Without leadership, ownership, and vision there is no solution.

Fail to plan and you plan to fail.

It equates to making the same mistakes year after year and expecting different results each time.

In order to solve the problem the mindset must change from the time the problem was recognized.

Be open to solutions and brainstorm!
