Coatesville resident in military service
Coatesville resident Kathryn L. Mannion is far from home. The 24-year-old Marine is a Lance Cpl. currently serving with the female engagement team with the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment in Afghanistan.
The Daily Local will have the chance to speak with Lance Cpl. Mannion in the near future. Do you have any questions for her? What would you like to know about a member of your community who is serving overseas?

I know Katy and she belongs to the FET (female engagement team). They are working as a bridge between the Afghan people and the US. There work with the women and children is incredible. It's the first time this has been done and the women who are involved do an amazing job in very difficult circumstances. We are proud of you Katy.
What do you do there and are you near any fighting?
When are you coming home? we all miss you!
We just want to thank Katy from the bottom of our hearts. What you are doing is amazing. We are all so grateful to you and your fellow soldiers. Stay safe and can't wait for your return.
I would like to hear from Katy what she sees is the biggest impact she and the other FET (Female Engagement Team) members are having on the Afghan women and children. Katy, we are proud of you and all of your fellow soldiers - thank you!
Thanks so much to Katy and your group for your service to the Afghan women, to the United States Military and being so brave while being so far away from home. Stay safe! We miss you.
Ask Katy what she and her team members need that we could send over.
Corporal Mannion, congratulations on your promotion. What has been the most gratifying part of your experience? What has been the most difficult? Thank you for your service. We have seen amazing news stories and videos of you and your fellow FET Marines.
Katy you have always been an amazing person with a huge heart and I am sure that enables you to reach through all the cultural boundries and right into the hearts of the Afghan people. You have a way about you that sets the women at ease and the children a giggling!! We could't be more proud of our High Meadows Katy!! We love you and miss you!! Stay safe and just keep thinking....cookies!!!
